Making a Bill into a Law
You are now a senator in the US Congress. Your job is to create a bill and pass it into law that helps your constituents. Pick something that you would like to see changed or improved upon in our society for your age group. This will make it much easier for you to defend in class on Friday. Once you have your topic of interest, turn it into Ms. Boltz. That way I can make sure that we aren’t all doing the same law. If you are stuck coming up with an idea, think of something that you want to change and how you would go about changing it. If you need some ideas go to:

On Friday, you need to come in with a plan for writing your law. In writing your law, you will need to explain it fully (one paragraph), how you would put your bill into practice/plan of action (one paragraph), and explain why you think it is necessary for it to become a law (one paragraph). You will then get up and present your idea to the committee (your classmates). They will comment on it Chalk Talk style to help you prefect your bill. After it is perfected, you will present it for vote. Since we are senators, a simple majority of votes (50%) will pass your bill into law.
If you want to know how the process Friday will work, see how the pros do it!
